The time finally came. Our smoke and carbon monoxide detector (also a Kidde brand) from 2010 finally died and we needed a replacement and the unholy chirp constantly reminded us. After reading various reviews from various online sources, we settled on this newer Kidde smoke and carbon monoxide detector with a sealed 10 year battery.The detector itself was easy enough to install with the included bracket but my biggest gripe is that there is no bracket standard, not just between brands but within the same brand. So to install the new bracket I had to pluck the old wall anchors out and drill new holes for new anchors because the hole pattern was different. Very frustrating because a standard set of hole patterns would allow you to utilize the old anchor points, saving time. Exactly what I needed and for best price. Easy to install and activate. Other than being able to see how they would perform in an actual emergency. Or will they really last 10 years. They definitely provide a strong level of confidence having them in the house. And I'm glad I chose these vs other options.
I like it it's carbon and smoke both
We have these on each floor and they work easily and love the features compared to other models. Have not had any issues.
Installed in January. Is now May. Thought one was chirping. Turns out I have a 4th detector the house. I bought a 3 pack. So far so good.
Purchased in 10/2025. Now after six months, we have had no false alarms. It is mounted in a den near the kitchen and cooking smoke/toast burning has yet to set off a false alarm. It is smaller than prior Kidde models that I have purchased. I hope it continues to perform in this manner with few false alarms. I will update my review if a false alarm occurs. This unit has now doubled in price though.
I've had this very model detector in my house for 12 years and it finally gave out so I feel like 12 years is a pretty good lifespan so I just bought another one!
